Scout Analytics Service Update 5 (SU5) went live on September 10.  SU5 enhances the data collector with the following capabilities.

Remediation Manager
Remediation Manager provides an automated workflow to assist in decreasing unlicensed use on your service.  Within the Remediation Manager setup, the account sharing criteria is entered that will determine which accounts will enter remediation.  The criteria values are based on the number of patterns, pervasiveness and frequency that sharing has been detected on the account.  The remediation steps are configurable and can include an alert to the user while logging on, email notices, password changes, enabling strong authentication and locking the account.  While sharing continues, the account will progress through the remediation workflow steps.  If sharing stops for a defined number of days, the account will be taken out of remediation.

This feature requires integration to your access management services. The remediation steps are passed to your system via a web service call, and when your system performs the step, returns the completion information to the web service.  Scout for SafeMLS from Clareity Security provides a fully integrated remediation solution.

Auto fill/Remember Me Login Identification
In SU3, the Scout collector added the feature to support auto fill or remember me logic for usernames and/or passwords.  In this release, the collected authentication records will display a login event value of Auto fill on the login detail page if the user logged in using a saved username or password.  If the user name and password are typed by the user, the value displayed will be Manual.

Scout Analytics Service Update 4 (SU4) went live on August 12.  SU4 enhances the data collector with the following capabilities.

Page Load Performance
The Scout Analytics collector pages have been streamlined so that the overall size of the login page has been reduced, which improved the time of loading 4 – 5 times over that in the previous release.   On average, tests indicate loading to occur in the range of 250-350 milliseconds.

Enhanced IP Address Collection
The collector captures the IP address within the Flash session and transmits it with other device signature information.  This avoids falsely recording an intermediary IP address as part of the session.

Extended Flash Support
The collector now detects compatibility for Flash in Internet Explorer 64-bit browser and older versions of Flash in Internet Explorer 6.  Additionally, the debug version of Flash is supported by the collector.

Scout Analytics SU3 is Live

July 2nd, 2009

Scout Analytics Service Update 3 (SU3) went live on July 2.  SU3 enhances the data collector with the following capabilities.

Device Signature
46 new data elements about the machine and browser used to access a service were added to the collector.  This information is used in analytics to provide richer understanding about the number of devices accessing a service as well as the demographics associated with access.

Remember Me Login
The collector now tracks the “remember me” option on a login page.  The collector will register which subscribers are using “remember me” and can provide new insight into scope and revenue risk of “remember me” functionality.

Mobile Device Login Page
The collector has been designed to detect and accommodate mobile devices that cannot support Flash.  The SU3 collector will either display the Flash alternative page, or could display a mobile specific login page.   The alternative page uses Javascript instead of an iframe, which is supported by a larger population of mobile devices.
